LEOSA HR-218 Annual Re-qualification
Course Length: 2 Hours Course Cost: $75
Prerequisite: Be a qualified retired law enforcement officer who meets the criteria outlined in the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act, HR-218.
Topics covered: Firearms Safety, Marksmanship Fundamentals, Federal & Virginia HR-218 LEOSA Requirements, Qualification Course.
Security Officer Core Subjects In-Service (01I)
Course Length: 4 Hours Course Cost: $75
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States. Successful completion of Security Officer Core Subjects (01E).
Topics covered: Security Officer updates, Security Officer best practices and "Stop the Bleed".
Private Investigator In-Service (02I)
Course Length: 8 Hours Course Cost: $150
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States. Successful completion of Private Investigator (02E).
Topics covered: Job-Related Training.
Handgun In-Service (07R)
Course Length: 4 Hours Course Cost: $85
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics covered: Classroom Retraining or Practical Exercises.
Shotgun In-Service (08R)
Course Length: 3 Hours Course Cost: $85*
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics covered: Classroom Retraining or Practical Exercises.
*Course cost $45 if taken with (07R/09R).
Advanced Handgun In-Service (09R)
Course Length: 8 Hours Course Cost: $175
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics covered: Legal Authority and Decision-Making, Handgun Safety, Marksmanship, and Skill Development.
Patrol Rifle In-Service (10R)
Course Length: 4 Hours Course Cost: $125
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics covered: Classroom Retraining or Practical Exercises
Note: Students with an existing DCJS firearms endorsement need to use the same caliber reflected on their card.
DCJS Approved Alternate Instructor Development Course In-Service (13I)
Course Length: 4 Hours Course Cost: $125*
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics covered: Regulations review and legal Issues, ethical standards, records requirements and other related topics, and techniques of instruction delivery, including practical exercises.
*Receive a $50 discount on the combined cost for both classes when taken with 14I.
DCJS Approved Alternate Firearms Instructor Course In-Service (14I)
Course Length: 4 Hours Course Cost: $125*
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics covered: Legal issues and and techniques of instruction delivery and other related topics.
*Receive a $50 discount on the combined cost for both classes when taken with 13I.
Note: DCJS Firearms Instructors are required to have qualified within 12 months of their renewal application date. Students can use their qualification scores from 07R/75R, 08R, 09R and 10R as long as they have a recorded minimum score of 85% and 92% for 09R.
07R/75R qualification with a semi-auto and revolver is offered as part of the 14I class at no additional fee. 08R, 09R and 10R qualifications are $25 for each qualification if needed.
DCJS Firearms Instructor Individual Annual Re-Qualifications*
Course Length: Varies Course Cost: See below.
Prerequisite: Be a current DCJS Firearms Instructor.
Qualifications Offered: 07R, 08R, 09R and 10R. The cost for the initial qualification is $90.00 for the 07R with semi-auto & revolver and 08R with one shotgun. Each additional qualification is $25 with the exception of 08R which is $20. All qualifcations must be done on the same day. Remedial training is $125 for 4 hours. Any immediate or consecutive re-shoot of a qualification is $20.
*This course is for DCJS Private Security Firearms Instructors wanting to qualify outside of anexisting 14I class. Students must contact us to request a class date.
Electronic Security Subjects In-Service (30I)
Course Length: 4 Hours Course Cost: $75
Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old or accompanied by a legal guardian and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.
Topics Covered: Administration and Orientation to Private Security, Ethical Practices, Applicable Sections of the Code of Virginia and DCJS regulations, Overview of Electronic Security and False Alarm Prevention.
Note: This course is required for central station dispatcher, electronic security sales representative, electronic security technician and electronic security technician'sassistant.
Personal Protection Specialist In-Service (32I)
Course Length: 8 Hours Course Cost: $150
